Ruud van den Muijzenberg
Biography
“I craft stories with melodic techno.” That’s the vision of Dutch melodic/techno DJ and producer Ruud van den Muijzenberg (1988). For Ruud music is a medium for telling stories. The cornerstone of his own productions is including complex themes we all recognize, such as mental health and the impact of mass media. Depending on the story he’s telling, the vibe of the music can be darker and vulnerable or brighter and uplifting. This approach gives Ruud the ability to craft melodic techno music that the audience can connect with on a deeper level. It also allows him to
explore subgenres while remaining true to his vision.
As a performer, Ruud carefully curates his set based upon the vibes present at the event. Knowing his place and time in a line-up is essential. It will determine what music he ends up playing to create the best experience for the audience. Ruud understands that a warm-up set is completely different from a closing set. Being the bridge between two other artists also means following and building from their flow. Or that 7hr+ plus sets will demand a lot of
flexibility and a keen eye on the audience. Ruud believes a good performance is an energy exchange with the crowd — a connection you definitely feel while he’s on stage.
Previously performed as Rudy Lime. Ruud dropped his Rudy Lime alias at the end of 2019 and since then continued using his real name. This decision also marked his steps into producing music and became the foundation of working on his forthcoming album. Ruud’s first festival performance dates back to 2005 at Frequence Outdoor (NL). In 2013 Ruud played his first international event in New York. Other noteworthy performances were at Lakedance (303Lovers, 2013), X-Qlusive: Brennan Heart (2014) and a 7-hour set at Paaspop (2016). On New Year’s Eve of 2017-2018 Ruud headlined the Wonderland New Year’s concert in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Throughout his career Ruud had several DJ residencies. RAW Refreshment (2011-2012), Sultry Lounge (2013-2015), SNCKBR (2017) and Voorkomen (2017-2018). During the first six months of 2019, Ruud broadcasted his weekly “Nightfall” radio show via the London based Select Radio. With over 17 years of international DJ experience in his backpack, Ruud has a solid base for building a new career.
